广寒宫掉下来的一面宝镜，能把统治者的丑恶映现镜中。县官想把它窃为己有，不料宝镜把他和他的大人、仆役的许多丑事都一一抖落出来，使他们身败名裂。后来，这面宝镜镶嵌在鉴山山腰，它的镜面正对着阳朔城，监视着阳朔的父母官们，如果他们干了什么贪赃枉法的丑事，就会被一一映视。 这就是“山水甲桂林”的阳朔的著名景观碧莲峰（即鉴山，古人称镜为鉴）的故事。
