该片是海岩新版”生死之恋三部曲“中的第一部。 青年律师韩丁（印小天 饰）在南方小城办案时，偶然遇到清丽脱俗、明艳绝伦的罗晶晶（于娜 饰），并暗恋于心。一场突发事件使出身富贾之家的罗晶晶在遭受丧父、破产的打击后，孤身流落到京城。韩丁又一次巧遇罗晶晶，很快坠入爱河。不久晶晶的初恋情人龙小羽（刘烨 饰）出现了，在晶晶与他见面时被警察以杀人嫌疑犯带走，因忘不了那段曾经让她刻骨铭心的爱情，便请求韩丁为小羽辩护。为了维系两人的感情，韩丁违心地卷入了这件杀人案的调查之中，在扑朔迷离的案件中，韩丁得到新的证据，就在刑场上执行命令下达以前，韩丁挺身救下了小羽，晶晶却重新回到龙小羽的怀抱。但是韩丁的同事老林又发现了新的证据，新的证据表明了，小羽确是杀害他过去的女友四萍的凶手。最后，小羽在四萍母亲面前割腕自杀了，绝望的晶晶走了。韩丁在无边的等待中会再次遇见这个女孩吗？
