母亲去年去世后，小撒的父亲变得越来越沉默，平日在家里，爷俩经常面对面静静坐着，不知道从何聊起。踏上这次旅程，小撒不仅仅为了寻找家族尘封已久的故事，也为找到与父亲交流的方式。江城武汉，撒贝宁的故乡。那些曾经走过无数次的街道，江岸边最熟悉的钟声，儿时嬉戏玩闹的码头。 十天的探寻，让小撒对这座城市完成了从熟悉到陌生再到熟悉的过程。他看到了1000华里的长路上祖辈佝偻的身影；家族名单上那些从未听过的名字；半个多世纪前爷爷至死不谈的秘密；抗日战场上书生的意气与英魂；还有那位和家族离散了70多年的至亲。远在千里之外的祖籍，三十多年来一直只是小撒户籍栏中毫无温度的文字。而踏上祖辈们曾经生活的土地，每一寸砖瓦，每一条小巷，每一声方言，让他感慨：切断的是有形的根，切不断的是无形的脉。小撒此行能为父亲带回些什么鲜为人知的家族故事呢?
