迎来新年的第三天，谷口巧来到了薮下依子的老家。依子的叔母初枝和叔父康行也来了，由于不习惯出远门，巧从横滨到东京一路上感觉都很不舒服。数日前，俊雄向依子提议说每年的例行家庭会议让巧也来参加。但巧很干脆的拒绝了邀请。生气的依子说如果不去参加，就说明巧没有好好相处的意思，就分手。巧听后感到慌张，忙于宗太郎和佳织商量对策。商量中，依子和留美也加入了进来，商量结果认为巧应该去参加聚会，在依子的指导下，事先做好练习准备。于是1月3日当天，聚会从问候开始。每个人轮番介绍自己的一年总结和来年的计划。大家的魄力让巧感到退缩。与此同时，鹫尾丰一身与巧决一胜负的装扮也来到了依子家。聪明，干练的鹫尾，得到初枝和康行的一致好评。而且，鹫尾和俊雄也聊得很开心。巧在那里呆的更加不自在。很看好鹫尾的初枝，强烈劝说依子与鹫尾交往。依子也开始烦恼起来。
