两年后七七事变。 寿亭数次去电催促文东、涛飞弃厂来济。但二人为报答寿亭执意留在天津。 寿亭曾经帮助过的少年兴家带来了给八路军染军装布的买卖，寿亭巧妙利用化学原理将灰布染成绿布，避过了国民党的检查，帮助了八路军抗日。涛飞把工厂以低价卖给德国人，准备离开天津时，惨遭日本人枪杀。消息传来，寿亭大口吐血，人事不知。林老爷知悉后顿足捶胸，深恨国家不能为自己的人民提供保障。 寿亭嘱咐手下，把自己工厂的所有关键部位全放上汽油，连上电线。日本一旦攻陷济南，宏巨染厂便是一片火海。寿亭将八路付给的买布的钱捐给八路军,让他们多杀鬼子,替自己报仇. 寿亭生日，大家在工厂里给寿亭祝寿，手下来报，韩复榘弃城逃跑。寿亭对这个国家彻底失望了，最后说出"这是什么军队，这是什么国家！"，吐血昏了过去，随后命金彪炸掉染厂。面对一片火海的染厂，陈寿亭流下了眼泪。
