王素兰好人得好报，厂里安排她在众人都想求得的职工澡堂卖票缓解家里的生活困难。白若雪迎来了三十岁的生日，姜氏擀了长寿面打算好好犒劳一下日夜排戏辛苦的儿媳妇。面没吃成，在剧团排练的白若雪昏倒在练功房里，经医院检查是营养严重不良，更要命的是白若雪在这样困难的时候怀上了第三个孩子。医生建议白若雪停止练功还要加强营养。姜氏觉得白若雪这样都是因为自己留在城里争了儿媳妇的口粮，越发觉得不安。闻讯赶来的齐向前被姜氏留在医院，让他好好陪陪白若雪，声称白若雪身体亏到这个程度都是咱齐家人对不住人家。齐向前请了假留下来陪护妻子。姜氏返回厂里照顾建设和奋斗。她在回厂的路上与从北京开会回来的何枫相遇，何枫专门为这位老嫂子带回来一块北京稻香村的点心，两个在战争年代结下情义的老姐弟感慨着人生的不易和岁月如梭。
